The LOA letter to the sailors, coaches & team managers – 29 January 2021
As many other countries around the World, an increase in number of positive cases of COVID 19 as generated the need on the Portuguese Government to take further steps that were announced today, by Government Decree and is going into a new phase of COVID 19 pandemic control, starting January 31st at 00:00h.
Portugal will have increased restrictions in the upcoming 15 days, with mandatory confinement, but some exceptions apply to a few activities.
As per article 34o of the Government Decree 3-A /2021, high performance outdoor sports practice (sailing included) and high-performance sport events (without spectators) are allowed.
Of course, all the activities SHALL comply with the strictest public health requirements and respect for everyone involved.
The Portuguese Borders will have an active control and restrictions will apply to enter Portugal.
All teams coming to Portugal SHALL carry a letter of their Sailing Federations, stating that sailors are professional/ high performance athletes and that will be participating in International Sailing events in Portugal.

Allows the foreigner citizens, non-residents in Portugal, to enter Portugal for International professional activities
Complying with all the Government regulations we will maintain Vilamoura Sailing Center open, and we will keep our International events calendar: Portugal Grand Prix, 470 World Championship / Olympic Qualifier and the RS:X European Championship.
