News From World Sailing - 2018 SWC Qualification System, Aarhus Test Event, Princess Sofia Regatta

2018 Sailing World Cup Series, Qualification System (QS)

In summary, there are three entry options available to your teams:

  1. Entry to Series by World Sailing Ranking,
  2. Entry to Series by Qualification Regatta,
  3. Entry to Individual rounds by request

Sailors who enter the ‘Series’ must attend all Rounds, Gamagori, Miami and Hyères.

Invitations to the 2018 Series will be sent on 30 April 2017 and to the top finishers from both Palma and Medemblik qualification regattas.

If sailors cannot attend all Rounds they must enter individual rounds. These invitations will be made available as per dates listed in the QS.

The QS is posted to the Official Notice Board. Please share this with your Coaches and Sailors.

Princess Sofia Regatta:

There will be a Team Leaders meeting organised by World Sailing during the Princess Sofia Regatta at the Club Nàutic S’Arenal on Thursday 30 March at 1800 (after racing). The meeting will be run by Guillaume Chiellino (the World Sailing Events Committee Vice Chairman), Corinne Rolland McKenzie (representing the Olympic Classes) and Alastair Fox (World Sailing Director of Events). An agenda for the meeting will be circulated early next week.

Aarhus Test Event – 7 to 13 August:

The NoR / SIs for the Aarhus Sailing Week (Aarhus 2018 test event) has been published on the World Sailing website. Please note that the qualification system for the Aarhus Test Event has been modified based on feedback we have received and the updated version has been published.

2017 RS:X Class Youth Scholarship - Available Now!

Like last three years the International RS:X Class Association’s Executive Committee decided to continue to provide the Youth Scholarship for the countries who’s RS:X sailor will participate on the RS:X Youth World Championships (this year in Torbole, Italy – from 24 June to 1 July 2017) for the first time since 2015.

The RS:X Class Youth Scholarship covers 500 EUR (~50%) of the cost of the charter equipment at the RS:X Youth Worlds with maximum of six sets total and one set per applying country.

The applications (simple email is enough) shall be sent to the RS:X Class ([email protected]) by 1st May 2017 and will be dealt with on a first come, first served basis. The final decision will be made by the RS:X Class Executive Committee by 15th of May 2017.

2017 RS:X Youth World Championship will be held in Torbole, Italy between 24th June - 1st July 2017.
