Qualification Series Completed At The RS:X Youth Worlds In Penmarch, France
Competitors at the RS:X Youth Worlds had another solid day of racing today with all 130 sailors completing three races. Although the wind from the southwest was a little lighter today than yesterday (6-10 knots), the sun made a grand appearance to lift everyone’s spirits.
In the boys’ fleet, the French team is still well in the game and occupying the leaderboard, but keeping an eye on the Italians and Israelis who are also placing consistently well.
Fabien Pianazza from south France is at the head of the boys’ fleet today with a third and two first place finishes. On the girls’ side, Georgia Speciale is in first place, but with Israeli Naama Gazit, who knew how best to exploit the gusts and oscillations, nipping at her heels.
After two days of the qualification round, the racers will move to the final series tomorrow. In the boys’ fleet, the first 49 sailors have qualified to compete in the gold fleet, and the remaining 46 will compete in the silver fleet. The girls, 35 in the fleet, will continue as single fleet until the Medal Race scheduled for Saturday.
